Tips for Using Storage Units

Special Tips:
Do not lean items against the wall. Leaving air space around the unit perimeter will aid ventilation. Leave a walkway to the rear of the unit. Use all the space available, including the height. Disassemble items such as bed frames. Mirrors, windows and screens should be stored on edge, not flat. Put pallets on the floor to give better air circulation or ask about our rentable flooring.*

Furniture:
Stand sofas and mattresses on end. Disassemble beds and tables; wrap legs in non-inked packing paper. Keep upholstery off the floor. Place loose, light plastic dust covers over furniture.*

Bedding, Clothing, Curtains, Drapes, and Linens:
Clean clothing, curtains, and drapes should be stored on hangars. If they can't be hung, they should be carefully folded and stored. We sell wardrobe style cardboard cartons that can also be used.*

Appliances and Electronics:
Clean appliances thoroughly. Refrigerators and freezers must be defrosted and dry, and washing machines completely drained. Remove doors of appliances and store them separately. Desiccants (drying agents) should be used and containers checked and emptied regularly. Several varieties are available at Easy Self-Storage.
